About
The SoFA Street Fair community supports local music and local musicians by going to shows on Mondays AND Fridays, buying a beer or a coffee when the shows are free, and paying a reasonable cover when it costs to get in. Twice a year, we celebrate the scene with a street fair of 80-100 bands on more than 10 stages in just 2 blocks. When we can’t take it to the streets, we’ll bring it right to you on your sofa. Live musical acts, social hangs, spotlights of SoFA artists and businesses, and more will be streamed right here. So grab a seat and a friend, as we adapt to the virtual world this Spring.
History
From 1992 to Today. This historic, day-long music and artist showcase has roots going back to 1992, with the first ever SoFA Street Fair in Downtown San Jose's arts and theatre district known as SoFA (South First Area). Every September until 2001, the annual SoFA event captured the rhythm and spirit of the local music scene, lining 3 blocks of streets with artists and vendors. The festival went on hiatus after 9-11, then returned in 2014, with renewed passion and a mission to move forward as a FREE community event. SoFA now happens twice a year, on Sundays in late April and late September.
